Two days ago, Ubuntu 21.04 Hirsute Hippo has been released to the public, including all its flavors like Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and Lubuntu. It includes exciting new features, such as:
- Ubuntu 21.04 uses Wayland by default
- Private home folders
- Improved dark theme
- New desktop icons extension
- Linux 5.11 kernel
The instant this was released, the Ubuntu developers also started development on the upcoming Ubuntu 21.10 Impish Idri, which is slated to release on October 14, 2021. We hope that GNOME 40 would be released in either that version, or the next LTS version, which is Ubuntu 22.04 LTS slated to release on April 21, 2022.
If you want to test drive this development version of Ubuntu, you might have to wait since the ISOs aren’t ready yet for it.
But for now, stay safe and follow us.
